Best Upcoming Smartphones in 2021

So far, so good, 2021 looks very promising for the smartphone industry. Already, Samsung has hit the headlines with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, Galaxy S21 Ultra – the best 2021 smartphones so far. The trio comes with the latest technology and innovations from the South Korean electronics conglomerate.

But trust me, there are several other smartphones that are worth the wait, from Huawei to Apple and One Plus, among other household names in the smartphone industry. I’ve been busy sampling a dozen-plus smartphones that are yet to hit the market and came up with a wish list of the top 3 best upcoming smartphones in 2021.

Without further ado, here are my picks.

iPhone 13

Now that Samsung has already released their most anticipated phones., all our eyes are set for the release of the iPhone 13 range. From the past releases, we can assume that Apple’s newest kids on the block will be the iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Regarding the features to anticipate in the iPhone 13 series, Apple’s first quad camera with 10x zoom is on top of the list. Other new features include the all-new ProMotion 120Hz display with variable refresh rate displays and a new A15 chipset that will offer faster performance than the predecessors. But none of these features have been officially confirmed by Apple.

Unfortunately, we don’t know when the Apple 13 range will be landing as the company has always been secretive regarding the release dates of their smartphones. But all sources are currently pointing to a September release date. On to the pricing, the iPhone 13 is expected to have two affordable models and two high-end models. We expect the starting price to be somewhere around $800.

OnePlus 9

One Plus, one of the world’s leading smartphone brands, has also not rolled out their 2021 high-end models, so we still have several options besides the already released models. One thing about the One Plus is that the brand offers state-of-the-art features we only see in high-end models such as Samsung Galaxy but at a lower price. According to trusted sources, the much anticipated One Plus 9 range will possibly have three models; OnePlus 9, OnePlus 9 Pro, and a new OnePlus 9E.

OnePlus will use Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 888, a 5nm chipset that comes with the first-ever ARM Cortex-X1 performance processor. There should also be improvements in the display, with sources indicating that the Pro version may take refresh rates to at least 120Hz and will have the IP68 certification. Some leaks also suggest that the One Plus 9 will come with a 48MP camera, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage.

When it comes to the release date, the One Plus 9 will probably be available sometime in March. That makes it a great deal for us who are unwilling to wait for the Apple iPhone 13, which is coming later on during fall. As for the pricing, the One Plus 9 will start at around $749.

LG Rollable

Having popped up at LG’s CES 2021 press conference, the LG Rollable is probably the most anticipated smartphone in 2021, considering its innovative handset with a rollable screen design. In a recent teaser, LG revealed the LG Rollable, extending from a smartphone to a tablet without folding. Sources indicate that this smartphone will be 6.8” while the table mode will stretch to 7.4”.

We don’t know much about it, but sources indicate that LG could use the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset, complemented by 16GB RAM. The battery will probably be 4,200mAh.

The release date for the LG Rollable is not confirmed, but leaks point to a March or June release date. The price has not been revealed, but it will definitely cost a fortune now that it is poised to shake the foldable phones market.

Wrapping Up

The above are the best upcoming smartphones in 2021. Other impressive smartphones in the pipeline include Oppo Find X3, Nokia 10, Samsung Galaxy Note 21, Sony Xperia 1 III Compact, Huawei P50, and iPhone SE 3, just to mention a few. That’s all we have for this review of the best 2021 smartphones that are worth the wait.
